About 30 miles long the river Río Dulce is Lake Izabal´s outlet to the Caribbean Sea. Located at the delta on the north shore is Livingston, a village with the magic of the Garifuna culture. Chill on the beach or party down at the frequent, exotic, Afro Caribbean culture festivals and celebrations.

The Caribbean of Guatemala

The Sierramar Eco Lodge is just across the river by boat. From here you can go on hiking tours, bird watching or visit the Spanish built Castillo San Felipe. Which in 1652 was to protect the entrance to Lake Izabal from English and Scottish pirates. It was finally abandoned after the Spanish left.
